KK&K now to be known as Siemens Turbomachinery Equipment
Erlangen, Germany, June 13, 2007
Kühnle, Kopp & Kausch (KK&K) Aktiengesellschaft will be renamed Siemens Turbomachinery Equipment GmbH effective June 12, 2007. Siemens acquired the manufacturer of steam turbines, compressors and fans in late November 2006. Siemens Turbomachinery Equipment has facilities in Frankenthal and Leipzig.
”With the international brand name Siemens the company’s growth will be further accelerated,” said Frank Stieler, head of the Oil & Gas and Industrial Applications Division within the Siemens Power Generation Group. “Since KK&K was acquired by Siemens there has been a further increase in the demand for the turbines and compressors produced there.”
With the acquisition of KK&K Siemens has expanded its steam turbine and compressor portfolio in the lower capacity range. Siemens Turbomachinery Equipment develops, manufactures and markets steam turbines with ratings up to 5 megawatts (MW) and compressors for industrial applications. The former KK&K subsidiary TLT Turbo GmbH, a manufacturer of fans with facilities in Zweibrücken, Bad Hersfeld and Oberhausen, will continue to operate under the name TLT Turbo.
The Power Generation Group (PG) of Siemens AG is one of the premier companies in the international power generation sector. In fiscal 2006 (which ended September 30), Siemens PG posted sales amounting to more than EUR10 billion and received new orders totaling EUR12.5 billion, according to U.S. GAAP. Group profit amounted to EUR782 million. On September 30, 2006, PG had a work force of approximately 36,400 worldwide.
