Siemens Power Generation Acquires Advanced Burner Technologies

ABT is one of several recent acquisitions aimed at expanding Siemens’ offering of market-driven solutions for cleaner, more efficient power generation products and services.  In 2004, Siemens acquired Bonus Energy A/S. In October 2005, Wheelabrator Air Pollu-tion Control, Inc. was brought into the company, and most recently, Siemens Power Generation acquired Sustec Group for its trendsetting technology for converting coal cleanly for electricity generation.

Strategically this combination matches Advanced Burner Technologies’ advanced NOx prevention and control products with Siemens Power Generation’s global expertise in highly efficient turbine-generators, power plant equipment and advanced air emissions control products. Overall, this acquisition furthers Siemens’ ongoing commitment to pro-vide innovative technologies, solutions and services to better meet the needs of our customers. Mr. Joel Vatsky, current president of ABT, will continue in his position. ABT will remain in its present location in Pluckemin, New Jersey, and report to PG’s Fossil Service Division. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Siemens and ABT share many of the same customers. “This acquisition simplifies busi-ness for many of our joint customers, who will now have a single point of contact for many of their plant operations and maintenance services, including the effective integra-tion of service for their turbines, fuel combustion equipment and air emissions control technologies,” said Craig Weeks, president, Siemens Power Generation Fossil Service Division.
