Siemens and Lübeck utility commission Germany’s first shore side power supply for merchant shipping

08/21/2008 | After successfully completing the testing phase, Siemens Energy and the Lübeck utility commissioned Germany’s first shoreside power supply system for merchant shipping on August 21, 2008. The shore side power system, installed at the Nordland dock of the Lübeck port provides ships with an environment-friendly and economical electrical power supply via the local medium voltage system while they are berthed in port.
