Kårstø combined cycle power plant
03/01/2008 | Outside view of the Kårstø combined cycle power plant located north of Stavanger. It is not only the first fossil-fueled power plant that has ever been built in Norway but it is also one of the most efficient and environmentally friendly in the world. Related to the standard pollutants especially NOx, all technologies defined as BAT (Best available technology) were installed at Kårstø power plant. The gas turbines are equipped with DLN-systems. Additionally a SCR catalyst system is installed. As a result NOx values lower than 2 ppm have been achieved. The plant also meets the high environmental requirements for water.
