Siemens is the market leader for steam turbines for solar-thermal plants. For the world’s biggest solar-thermal plant Andasol I und II in Spain Siemens is delivering two SST-700 steam turbines with a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW). Each of these plants will produce power for 50.000 households and avoid 172.000 tons of CO2. The photo shows the solar-thermal plant Nevada Solar One near Boulder City in Colorado, USA.
